Coffee Fest Chicago Postpones Event to August 28-30

Coffee Fest Chicago, originally scheduled to happen June 26-28 has been moved to August 28-30 due to COVID-19 concerns.

“Coffee Fest is now doing business in an entirely new world,” said Clarion Events Coffee Fest Portfolio Director, Erika Lowery. “With the uncertainty of the next 90 days, travel restrictions, city shutdowns and stay-at-home orders, we wanted to do our best to help specialty coffee businesses plan ahead. The later date, we hope, will allow more businesses to return to the ‘new normal’, lessen the fear of traveling and ensure the success of businesses supporting businesses face-to-face.”

In a survey presented to past Midwest Coffee Fest attendees, 85% of those who responded said they’d rather see Coffee Fest Chicago postponed versus being canceled. Due to this overwhelming feedback, Coffee Fest Chicago was moved to later in the summer with the strong hopes that Chicago and the US at large would be in a better place to host events. “We know there are still unknowns but just like the industry we support, we need to think ahead and plan for things getting back to a ‘new normal’,” cited Lowery.

The move of the Chicago show dates places two Coffee Fest events in one month, first in Anaheim August 8-11 and then in Chicago August 28-30, something that has never been done in Coffee Fest history before. “We believe that face-to-face interaction, events that bring the community back together, and building each other up is exactly what specialty coffee businesses will need to recover from COVID-19,” feels Lowery. “I am so impressed with the business owners that I have heard from, watched on webinars, and seen in social media. Our industry is not choosing fear but choosing to be fearless. We love our specialty coffee business customers, just like they do their own customers and we want to support the industry every way we can to recover from this.”

As part of that on-going support right now, Coffee Fest has set up a website page with links to webinars, articles, discounts, and resources to help specialty coffee businesses during this time at In addition, work has begun to develop and implement a COVID-19 Recovery education track for future Coffee Fest shows, rolling out first in Anaheim. Other new ideas are in development as well to address what has been learned coming out of this pandemic.

At this time, Coffee Fest is still scheduled for Anaheim August 9-11 at the Anaheim Convention Center, in Chicago August 28-30 at Navy Pier and in Tacoma, WA October 24 & 25 for Coffee Fest PNW at the Greater Tacoma Convention Center. Dates are subject to change as cities and states make determinations on allowing large gatherings again. Any changes to the schedule will be communicated through the Coffee Fest website, on social channels, and in emails.
