Building Your Own Collection of Leadership Skills

Amy has curated a collection of leadership skills over the years, many of which have been put into hyper-drive during the pandemic. She will share the leadership skills she has used from her collection, citing examples of how they have worked and even a few instances where they backfired. And help you develop a framework for developing your own collection of leadership skills.

Values, Play, Be Curious, Always Learn, Be Clear & Consistent, and Smile. These six skills are the foundation of Amy’s leadership style, which have been put into hyper-drive during the pandemic. Amy will share how she settled on these, how they have worked (and even cite some examples of when they backfired) and how you can use them to develop your own collection of leadership skills to equip you for now and the future.

Coffee, Covid and Sustainability - Current Trends and the Future of Coffee

In the Before Times, the coffee industry – and particularly coffee farmers – were already in trouble. Low prices, climate change, declining yields. With COVID19, global supply chains have been severely disrupted, and nobody can predict when the world will return to “normal.” The question on everyone’s lips is – “will I survive this?”

There are bright spots on both ends of the supply chain. Consumers care more about what they put in their bodies, where their food comes from, and how to hold brands accountable for their choices. Farmers want to run successful businesses and create thriving communities - they are fighting for this in spite of the barriers they face. How can roasters match these two ends of the spectrum? What decisions should they be making about the quality, features and price of their coffee?

I most enjoyed getting hands-on experience and trying what we learned at the Drink Innovations Lab. I even enjoyed tips and tricks on things that I already knew about.
