Coffee, Books & Wine: Conversations with Coffee Writers

This one-night-only event is a special collaboration between Coffee Fest and Guilder at Powell’s City of Books. Attendance is free with your Coffee Fest badge, but seating is limited - please be sure to register for a ticket to reserve your spot.
Join us for an evening of coffee culture, conversation, and storytelling, featuring some of the specialty coffee industry’s most influential voices - who just so happen to call the Pacific Northwest home.
You’ll hear directly from the writers shaping how we think about coffee - from café life and roasting to origin, design, and the stories behind the cup. Whether you're a barista, roaster, café owner, or a curious coffee lover, this evening will leave you inspired and more deeply connected to the craft.
🎤 Featuring Coffee Writers Including:
- Morgan Eckroth, Writer of Coffee For Here, U.S. Barista Champion, and digital creator known for bringing barista life to the screen
- Lani Kingston, Author of How to Make Coffee, Designing Coffee, Spill the Beans: Global Coffee Culture + more; teaches coffee anthropology at Portland State and leads educational programming for Coffee Fest
- Mark Shimahara, photographer and author of Coffee Covered: A Photographic Journey of Coffee from Farm to Cup (published by Roast Magazine), who captures the global coffee story through compelling imagery
- Howie Bryman, Associate Editor at Daily Coffee News by Roast Magazine, covering the intersection of coffee, business, and culture
- Elizabeth Chai, author of How to Buy Essentially Nothing for a Year and the creative force behind some of the coffee world’s most beautiful, intentional design work
+more to be announced! Stay tuned as we update the lineup.
