Roast Approach: How to Develop and Dial in a Roast Profile offers an introduction to creating a coffee roasting strategy rooted in the chemical reactions and changes that occur during the roasting process.   The session explains how subtle adjustments to time and temperature trigger chemical transformations that shape the final flavor. Through a series of engaging tastings, participants see firsthand how modifications to the roast profile impact acidity, sweetness and body.

This workshop goes beyond theory by combining sensory evaluation with practical techniques. Roasters will learn how to make informed profile adjustments and compare flavor outcomes. The session provides an overview of how changing roast parameters can translate to a unique and desirable cup. It invites participants to explore the science behind roasting and apply that understanding to consistently craft coffee that meets their flavor goals.

This class will provide roasters of all experience levels a fresh new way of approaching their coffee roast, whether it's hobby roasting in their garage or roasting full sized production roasts for their business.
