Co-Founder/Executive Director, Cafe de Leche Coffee Roasters

Anya Schodorf (née Montalban) is the co-founder of Café de Leche Coffee Roasters, a specialty coffee company she launched with her husband in Northeast Los Angeles in 2008.

Born in Managua, Nicaragua, Anya spent her childhood in Costa Rica before moving to Glendale, California. She met her husband in Highland Park, where they built both their family and business together. What began as a single neighborhood café has grown into five café locations and a dedicated roasting facility serving customers throughout the Los Angeles area.

Driven by a passion for specialty coffee and community, Anya helped open Café de Leche's first café in 2008, followed by a second location in 2016. In 2017, the company expanded into its own roasting facility, strengthening its commitment to quality, production, and long-term sustainability.

The company's continued growth has included:

  • Pasadena City College (2022)
  • Hollywood (2023)
  • Cal State LA (2026)

Today, Anya oversees multi-location operations, a team of more than 35 employees, wholesale partnerships, catering services, production systems, and ongoing expansion initiatives. She plays an active role in organizational development, employee training, financial oversight, and strategic planning.

At the heart of Anya's work is a commitment to people, building strong teams, creating effective systems, and fostering environments where employees can grow and succeed. She is passionate about leadership, operational excellence, sustainable growth, and meaningful community partnerships.
