Cenk Duman
Born in Park Ridge and raised in Hoffman Estates, Cenk Duman (pronounced "Jenk") is a Chicago-based entrepreneur fueled by a passion for hospitality and community. His journey began in 2010 when he balanced a burgeoning career at Starbucks with a pre-pharmacy program. However, he soon realized his true calling wasn’t in a lab, but behind the espresso machine. Choosing to follow his intuition over the traditional academic path, Cenk dropped out of college to pursue a singular dream: bringing a new kind of coffee experience to Chicago.
The vision for Oromo Cafe began to take shape in 2014. After two years of intensive concept development and construction with start to finish help of his father, Ed Duman (Also his business partner), Cenk officially opened the doors in 2016. Since then, Oromo has become a staple for those seeking a unique, craft-focused coffee culture.
Today, Cenk lives in Andersonville, a neighborhood that mirrors his love for local community and character. By his side through every late-night planning session and grand opening is his 16-year-old dog, Martin, who has been his constant companion since the very beginning of this journey
