Tulian Sanchez

Owner, Frisson espresso

Tulian Sanchez is the co-owner of Frisson Espresso, a specialty coffee destination in New York City’s Theater District known for its energy, quality, and community presence. His journey into coffee began on the technical side of the industry, working as an espresso machine technician at El Dorado Roasters and later at Dallis Bros, where he repaired and serviced coffee equipment throughout the tri-state area. Over time, Tulian became more interested in creating coffee rather than simply maintaining the machines, turning curiosity into passion and ultimately opening the first Frisson Espresso café on December 27, 2014, in Hell’s Kitchen.

Built as a self-made venture from the ground up, Frisson Espresso grew through hands-on dedication, continuous learning, and a deep respect for the craft despite Tulian’s early limited experience in specialty coffee. Today, the café has become a popular stop for Midtown commuters, tourists, and neighborhood regulars alike. The name “Frisson” was inspired by a word-of-the-day notification on Tulian’s dictionary app — a French term meaning “a moment of excitement,” reflecting the feeling coffee brings to him and the experience he strives to create for every guest.
