Verónica Muñoz
MuñozVeronica hails from Costa Rica, a proud descendent of a line of coffee farmers that spans three generations. Both her grandfathers cultivated coffee, and she fondly recalls the harvest seasons at the farm, making cherished memories with her cousins. After earning her degree in International Business with a focus on Finance from Kennesaw State University, she felt drawn to her family's coffee roots.
Despite the farm lying abandoned after her grandfather's passing, she embarked on a journey to revitalize it. With determination, she rallied her family and shifted the focus
from mass production to curating high-quality coffee varieties. This drive led to producing specialty micro-lots that highlighted the nuances of the bean. In 2013, she
joined Afaorca, the Association of Organic Coffee Farmers in Costa Rica. There, she immersed herself in every facet of the coffee journey, from managing a micro mill to
roasting and cupping coffee.
Today, Veronica plays a pivotal role in Afaorca's Communication Department and is responsible for securing green coffee contracts with international buyers. She passionately seeks the best price for their quality coffee, recognizing that even slight increases per pound can significantly improve the living conditions of the farming families, from better living standards to affording school supplies for their children. For Veronica, it's about fostering genuine, transparent relationships between roasters and farmers, transcending mere business transactions.
Nine years ago, Veronica embarked on another venture: importing coffee from Costa Rica. In 2018, her entrepreneurial journey with Coffee Tica was spotlighted in a book celebrating 50 successful Hispanic women in the US. Her expertise extends globally, having worked with some of the finest coffee origins worldwide.
Recently, she delved into Colombian coffee and even managed a coffee shop. She also worked as the Franchise Coordinator for Macondo Coffee Roasters in Florida.
Coffee, for Veronica, is more than a beverage. It's her life's passion and a way to uphold her grandfather's legacy. She remains unwavering in her commitment to sustainable coffee production, driven by her mission to "Love the Planet with a Cup of Coffee.
Committed to Diversity and Inclusion: Verónica Muñoz enriches our conference with their experience as an Hispanic woman business owner.
